Supermarine Spitfire TD248 was Built by Castle Bromwich in 1944 and delivered to 6 Maintenance Unit on the 11th of May 1945. It was prepared for service and then delivered to 695 Squadron based at Bircham Newton in Norfolk.

After receiving damage TD248 was withdrawn from service in 1947 and then after repair she was returned to service in 1948.

On the 31st of August 1951, TD248 was delivered to No.2 Civilian Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit (CAACU) based at Little Snoring, Norfolk where it was used for calibration flights and target towing.

Delivered to 9 Maintenance Unit on the 27th May 1954 and then issued as static display airframe to 610 Squadron at Hooton Park, Cheshire on 4th of October 1955 and then stored from 1957 to the 8th of April 1959.

Delivered to RAF Sealand then to 30 Maintenance Unit on January 31st 1967 and displayed outside officers mess and then on a pole at the main gate until 1988.

Used in 'The Battle of Britain' film in 1968.

Historic Flying Ltd, Cambridge acquired TD248 on June 1988 and restored her to airworthiness at Audley End, the first being carried out on the 10th of November 1992.

TD248 was sold to Karel Bros, it was involved in a landing accident at Duxford on the 11th of May 2001, the pilot Karel Bros was uninjured, but there was damage to the undercarriage, port wing, and propeller. It was then stored in Historic Flying's hangar, Duxford.

Restored at Duxford, it had its first flight on 27thMay 2002.

TD248 was sold in 2005 and the new owners had it re-sprayed in its new colour scheme of 74 Squadron 2nd Tactical Air Force May 1945. It is owned by Tom Blair, operated by Spitfire Ltd and maintained by the Aircraft Restoration Company at Duxford.
